This month has been awesome. There have been many things to cover and show pictures of, all the way from the Superbowl in Indianapolis, to Deb heading out west on a ski trip with her mom and sister, to us hopefully finding a house!
To start the month, the city was on display as Superbowl XLVI was here. Unfortunately, the Colts didn’t make it! And to rub salt in the wound, the evil Patriots were in town to play the Giants. Well, at least the Giants won! Anyway, Deb was able to get some tickets to a “Celebrate the City” event at the Skyline club where there were several Colts players there. It was quite the event and a very good time. Any party that has a breakfast buffet at the end of the night has to be good, right?!? I took off the Friday of that week to spend some time walking around downtown. Ben and Julia also took the day off so we spent the morning walking around. At noon, Jeremy met up with us and later in the afternoon, Deb, Tracy and Ben Lawton came out (with a backpack full of beer!) and we stayed out until about 7. It was simply too crowded and we were ready to head home. The city did a fantastic job hosting such a large event and it was great to see our city representing itself so well.
We were supposed to go skiing in Davis the second weekend in Feb, but the snow just didn’t show up this year for us, so we went to Charleston instead. We spent a quiet weekend with Randy and Anna, as it allowed for them to play and have fun with Allison. Traveling with Allison won’t always be this great, but she has been very good in the car so far!
The following Friday, I went along with Beth, Laura, Matt, Pete and Chelsea to Purdue to head to the Cactus to see Bruce, the Piano-man! Rumors are that he may be retiring, so we wanted to head up and check it out. It was a great time, but with beer towers at both tables and college drink prices, it was even better! Put that in combination that with Mad Mushroom cheese-sticks and it was a classic college night! With Pete and Laura in town, we decided to celebrate all birthdays in Jan – Mar on Saturday night, so we went over to Mom’s condo and had a good time. It was good to see everyone and Frank, Jan, Chelsea and Chris came over along with Mark.
Toward the end of the month, Deb went to Park City, Utah to ski with her sister and her mom. They had a great time, good snow and enjoyed a girl’s weekend. This was Anna’s first time skiing out west and she had a blast. Deb, Julie and Anna skied 3 different resorts (Park City, The Canyons and Deer Valley). The weather was perfect (2 days of not a cloud in the sky sunshine and one day of a massive snowstorm). Being at home with Allison alone was actually a lot of fun. I earned a great deal of respect for single parents out there, and those that have the energy to work out and eat right, they get bonus points. I didn’t work out and ate frozen pizza all weekend. Right before Deb left, we went to look at a house in one of our ideal neighborhoods. The price, # of bedrooms, # of bathrooms, and square footage all seemed to be too much house for us. But, when you walk into a house and both you and your wife smile, it is hard to have anything else come to your mind except moving in. We are still in the mist of some inspection work, and there are a few big items we need to negotiate, but hopefully we will be moving soon!
A few more items from this month:
**My mom’s condo association has an indoor pool, so we took Allison swimming for the first time and she seemed to really enjoy it! We hope to take her more to get her more used to the water
**Allison has started feeding herself and it has become fun to give her different foods, from cheerios to bananas to noodles to veggies, she will let you know what she does and doesn’t like! It definitely has made meal time a little longer, that is for sure!
