March 2020

March 2020

As with everyone, we have found ourselves adapting to our new lifestyle of “social distancing” the best we can.  We have tried out best to keep as much of a routine as we can, with eLearning along with other activities keeping everyone occupied while also spending some family time together. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1GbRjuKYhYcETRS6KWzBKSq6evKMzQf3Mhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1f2xIdbpOAHMk7ilC3hSXXV9ea0smgqvmhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=120aU9t9gZMN-J5t7duxVlEA-k15k2T6Lhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1INkPGb89IFII1M4swAIs4_UQ75L5EU5yhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=16ftq4MEOYBy9Jx3fEPfFgkK-sdoYRiLkhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1EjFAH-V5eS0V6zT8NDhkO1HiuVkdzd2Bhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1WfDackk2i6S25d2uflIbs6hcj-Nz9RGbhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1YfKZoRSVM8BE56RvAs4y_bFQpIVlIcBbhttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=12mhRH3tLEn5zL8S_I_lKLkynPuo6BdMe

Even though the news came to me on April 1st, I might as well mention it in this edition of the memoirs.  I was let go from Herff Jones.  With so many graduations being cancelled, some difficult decisions had to be made.  Debbie is very busy trying to keep her clinic moving along with Zoom, spending some time in the office and doing her best to keep her team connected and working during this very unusual time.

Our March started with both of the girls playing in the championship games in their basketball leagues.  Both of the girls lost, but they enjoyed their season.  After the games on March 7th, the league hosted an awards ceremony in the evening where all of the players were recognized.

Before school shut down in mid-March, the PTO hosted a movie night and showed Frozen II. Deb had something planned for that that evening (learning to knit!), so I volunteered to help out.  This basically meant my time was spent laying on the gym floor next to Sarah instead of helping out.

Once school was shut down, we have all been home for a majority of the time.  This has allowed for plenty of family time.  We have played Uno, Sorry, & Sequence.  The longer this goes on, we may try to show them Euchre.  We have worked on several puzzles and even traded puzzles with some neighbors to try some new ones.  Allison & Sarah will ride bikes and tag along when I go for a run if the weather is warm enough.  When outside, we are throwing a softball around, dribbling basketballs, hitting tennis balls or making up a game.  We have been as creative as we can be by building forts, doing Lego challenges and watching some TV & movies.  The kids have enjoyed being able to still see their friends virtually over Facetime, Zoom & Kids Messenger.  Debbie and I have also utilized some of that technology to talk with friends in the evenings after the kids are in bed. Our school has done a fantastic job of continuing with a virtual morning assembly and the girls have gotten used to their eLearning and asking questions when necessary.

Sarah’s Things of the Month

Sarah was really excited to try out tennis this year and was able to attend one practice before it was cancelled.  She was scheduled to do this with some of her friends from school and was disappointed that it won’t happen this spring.  At the end of the month Sarah lost her first tooth. Luckily the tooth fairy doesn’t believe in social distancing.

Allison’s Thing of the Month

Allison never got a chance to start her softball season and that appears to be possibly postponed or even cancelled.  She was excited to give that sport a shot

A few more items from this month:

  • The girls enjoyed making a trap to catch the leprechaun on St. Patrick’s Day.  He left some green M&Ms for them in the trap but escaped!
  • Deb went to Columbus to give a speech to a group about foot and ankle rehabilitation.
  • We were able to have one last Fish Fry at CKS.  This one was different because it was a drive-thru experience and Deb went and picked up food for our family while we stayed home.
