June had us busy with softball and the girls being done with school, along with getting into a routine with Timber. We took a trip to Pigeon Forge to spend some time with the Cyphers, Shafers and Chuck & Heather. We stayed busy with swimming and softball and are excited for a little less on our calendar in July since school
starts on August 11th.
We took a trip to Pigeon Forge the 2ndweekend in June. We met up with Randy & Anna, Julie’s family and Chuck & Heather. We rented a cabin in a campground which aligned with Chuck’s camper, which allowed for everyone to have a place to sleep and relax. The campground had a few pools and a playground. We went on a hike in the Smokey Mountains the first morning and saw a waterfall, a snake and even a few bears! After that, we went on an alpine roller coaster which the girls enjoyed. The 2nd morning we went to a go-kart track which let the girls drive a few different tracks and Allison raced against Sarah and I on the big track. We hadn’t seen Chuck & Heather in about 2 years along with the Shafers since last July due to the pandemic, so it was good to see everyone and not have too much on the agenda other than sitting around the campground.
Summer has begun and we were excited to have another great nanny this year in Margaret. She watched the girls for a few summers a couple of years ago and this worked out where she could watch the girls again. She is always very flexible with our work schedules and she has done a great job also helping out with Timber. The girls have been to the library a few times, the pool several times and always seem to be doing something fun. They both attended basketball and volleyball camps at Chatard.
Timber is doing well and we are all settling into more of a routine. She continues to sleep well and had her first vet appointment. She also had her first grooming appointment and she seemed to do well with that and enjoyed it. We got our training on the invisible fence and Timber has adjusted well and only got “out” once. The only issue we have right now is that she loves to play in water, so she has found our sump pump discharge area as a great place to roll around which has created a few unplanned baths. Her potty training is going OK with maybe one accident a day. We usually always have one of us “watching” her as there are plenty of things laying around that we don’t want her chewing on and we also never know what she will get into.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah’s swimming has improved a lot this year and Deb has pointed out that she may not be the fastest, but her form is pretty good for all of the strokes. Sarah’s softball season ended and she had a good time playing on a team with all of her friends from school and coached by several of their parents.
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison’s softball team won the championship after battling back through the loser’s bracket in a double elimination tournament. She has some nice hits and played some good defense at 2ndbase, including a very impressive catch that helped win one of the games. Allison has also improved her swimming this year and has gotten faster.
A few more items from this month:
- The summer social at church was virtual this year, so we hosted 3 other families for a trivia night. We had food, drinks and the firepit going as we had a good time even thought we came in last place!
- The Anderson’s put a pool in the last year so we got a chance to hang out at their house along with the Watkins family. All the girls played well together and it was nice to get a chance to hang out and catch up.
- We went to the pool for Father’s Day and the girls enjoyed playing with their friends. We haven’t made it to the pool as much as we have in prior years, but are hoping to get there a little more in July and August.
