After we got back, I was a week away from my 3rd Mini-Marathon and was getting in preparation mode. I had trained differently this year (less worrying about the watch on long runs and running faster on shorter runs) and was anxious to see how it may help out. I was also in Corral E, which is the closest I’ve ever been. Nevertheless, I ended up with a 1:53:27 which was 3 minutes faster than my best time. It was a good time and Deb was able to get some good pictures of me before I went into the Speedway. It was fun to see some friends afterwards, especially Brad who put together a fundraiser for his Dad (fighting Parkinson’s disease).
Our 4th anniversary rolled around on May 20th. As it has been our tradition to go to a steak house for dinner, we went to Flemings Steakhouse. It was a great meal and the service couldn’t be better (they even gave us 2 flutes of champagne to have with our dessert!). We enjoyed ourselves and found it hard to believe it has been 4 years!
We went to Chicago to visit some friends also in May. We left on a Friday night and went to the Rago’s, who ordered some Chicago pizza and invited over the Bencks. We watched the Blackhawks win game 3 of the NHL semi-final playoffs and probably had a few too many drinks (Joe busted out some rum he brought back from Mexico). We woke up and enjoyed breakfast, and then went over to see the Benck’s new house. Upon leaving there, we headed toward the Anderson’s new house and had lunch and a nice afternoon on their back porch. Once their babysitter arrived, we headed to a place that had indoor bocce! We had a great time visiting our friends in Chicago and hope to see them soon!
Memorial Day weekend this year was pretty casual, as we went to a few cookouts and spent some quality time by the pool. Friday night, we went to the Indiana Downs with the Watkins. Saturday, after doing yardwork at my parent’s house and watching the finale of 24 with Beth (Deb was at the pool with friends while we watched 24!), we went to a cookout at the Foulke’s. Sunday was another day by the pool with friends and some beer and then to another cookout at my parent’s house with the Vandervaarts and Wahmans.
A few more items from this month:
- We had some work done to the condo by a friend of ours which included some new caulk, drywall repairs and we added crown molding and new baseboards to the basement.
- On Memorial Day, we touched up some sections of the condo and re-painted the basement room after the changes were done.
