We spent a weekend this month in Charleston and had a great baby shower. Julie (and Anna) threw a NCAA tournament basketball themed party for us. It included a chance to decorate some baby clothes with your favorite team, a tournament style shooting contest at a kid’s hoop, along with a basketball with motivational words for the new baby. Earlier that day, WVU lost in the tournament, but the crowd was still excited for the shower. We received books in replacement for cards, which filled out the library in the nursery, along with all kinds of other things on our registry. Is it bad when you get a gift and have no idea what to use it for (not because the gift wasn’t awesome, but because you don’t know what you are doing)? While in Charleston, we also bought our new car. We got a new Chevy Traverse and it has been pretty fun to drive. Deb has let me drive it in a few situations, but she is very territorial with it. It is funny because I was the one that had to give up my car, so you would think I would get the new one! Not the case…since I get her OLD car, she thinks we both got new cars. When we buy our next car, I guess I will get to see the Traverse.
I had a bad ankle sprain playing basketball this month. After seeing a doctor at Deb’s clinic, I appeared to tear through some ligaments that were repaired back in 1998. Anyway, I had to wear a boot for 4 continuous weeks and am just now being released to do some exercises and start to wear a brace instead of a boot. I am hoping to maybe get back to basketball toward the end of this month…depending on the baby’s arrival date!
Julia Watkins and several other friends hosted another shower in late March. I went out with some of the guys during the shower and one of the women that attended the party met us out afterwards and said she wasn’t drinking the water at that party, because there were 5 pregnant people at the shower! We received many necessary items and it sounded like everyone had a great time telling stories about Deb.
A few more items from this month: • Butler is back in the Final 4 in the NCAA tournament. While this is the first Final 4 in history without a #1 or #2 seed, it ranks as the 3rd consecutive year that Deb has beat me in our bracket challenge.
• We celebrated Laura’s birthday at my parent’s house in early March. We also celebrated Claire’s birthday toward the end of March at their apartment.
