August
has been a pretty normal month. The
funny thing about that is, it felt really busy and like we were always on the
go, but when I sit down to write the blog, there aren’t too many “big” things
to write about. It is mostly just our normal
routine each week/month! It is hard to
believe that Deb has been back to work for 2 months and that Sarah is almost 5
months old.
Deb’s
Uncle Ralph and Aunt Barbs came for a visit early in August we had a great
weekend. Ralph and I went to an Indians
game on the Thursday evening they arrived.
Barbs, Allison and I went to gymnastics on Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed watching several baseball games
and have an extra set of hands around to play with the girls. Allison loved to watch baseball with Ralph
and enjoyed just about anything to do with Barbs.
Allison
finished her gymnastics class. She did
really well and enjoyed it each and every time.
We wanted to limit how many things we sign up for, so we decided to
switch to a swim class this fall. We are
hoping to find a class on Tuesday afternoons (one of Deb’s half-days) so it can
keep our weekends free. We are looking
for a swimming class because Allison really likes to swim and be in the
water. We swam over at my mom’s lake a
few times and she really enjoyed swimming at Max’s birthday party.
Sarah
has been adapting well to daycare and had her 4 month appointment. She weighed in at 13lbs 4ozs and was 24.75
inches long. She has been very
comparable to Allison’s sizes through her first 4 months. She had dropped her middle of the night feed,
but that doesn’t mean we are sleeping well.
She wakes up a few times a night and talks to herself for about 15-20
minutes before falling back asleep. This
is much better than Deb having to get up and feed, but she is a mover in her
sleep and gets her arms and legs stuck in the crib frequently. We are also working on dropping one of her
daily feeds to free up Deb’s schedule and allow for some more freedom.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah can roll-over pretty easily. We can look away for a few minutes and she is
already rolled around or moved from where we left her. As with everything, this is different than
Allison, who took a long time to accomplish this feat. Because she rolls over frequently, we find
her sleeping on her stomach.
Allison’s Things of the Month
Allison has many fun things from this month. At church, she will sing and respond to the
priest and likes to share in “peace” with everyone. She will also sometimes ask if “church is
done.” Another thing we saw if Deb
dresses up, Allison will say how “pretty” she looks. My favorite thing, which involves my Grandpa
and Dad, is that she will play with my scruff on my face at the end of the day
and we like to call it “wormies.” Each
night, if I put her to bed, I will rub my face against hers and say, “goodnight
little wormie.”
A few more items from this
month:
·
Laura and the
kids came to visit the last weekend of August at Mom’s condo. It was great to see them and watch Allison
interact with her cousins. Swimming was
the best with Allison counting down for Claire to jump in the water. Beth,
Matt, Frank, Jan and Chelsea were all in attendance throughout the weekend.
·
I went to an
impromptu poker at Watkins’ house. It
was good to see everyone, but it was great to see Bleill, who I hadn’t seen in
a while.
·
Deb had some
dinners out this month with Angie and Amy (Some Guys) and Julie Gebhart (Napolese).
·
Deb took the kids
to the zoo with Kimmey and her 3 kids.
·
We went over to
the Watkins’ house on a Friday night for pizza.
·
Deb and Beth had
a pool day scheduled and they decided to take a long walk (due to the weather)
and enjoyed some beers at Flatwater.
·
I dropped out of
one of my fantasy football leagues but stuck with the other one. I went up to Jeremy’s place to take part in
the draft. Most of the guys are in the
Chicago area, so he and I have gotten together the last 3 years on draft
night.
·
We won the flag
football championship last spring and we had a party to celebrate at the Post’s
house. Donnie helped organize and it was
good to see everyone. I decided to call
it quits after last season, as it was becoming more difficult with 2 kids and
the social aspect had decreased because everyone was busier. On top of that, I’m just not very good
anymore!
