June 2015

The month of June officially kicked off summer!  It was a very rainy June, but whenever we could be outside we made the most of it! The girls are starting to really interact and play a lot more together, which is fun to watch until someone doesn’t share or someone gets hurt while they are playing, but that is to be expected!
We had family pictures taken by Sarah Souders at the end of May and received the pictures in early June.  As you can see below, the pictures are great!!

The month started off with Deb going to visit her sister and her family in Savannah.  She flew out Friday morning and spent the weekend hanging out with them, shopping at outlet malls, going on walks, going to the beach and enjoying time simply catching up with them and their daughter.  Over that weekend, the girls had a musical at their daycare which was pretty awesome.  Beth, Matt, Mom, Frank, Jan and Mark all came to watch and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  Afterwards, Mom and I took the girls to Wendy’s to celebrate a great performance!  That weekend, Mom took the girls to her house for a few hours on Saturday and Beth took them for a few hours on Sunday so I could go for a run and mow the lawn.  I’ve said it before, but you really don’t know how much your spouse does until they aren’t there for 3 or 4 days in a row!

The following weekend we went to Charleston to visit Deb’s parents.  This was BY FAR our best road trip where the girls did well eating lunch, taking a small nap and watching some shows on the IPad.   Randy and Anna have kept some toys from Debbie and Julie’s childhood and it is great to see the girls get excited about those toys and play with those for hours.  We went to a children’s discovery museum and the girls seemed to really enjoy it.  We could tell they liked it since they napped so well after we got back that day!  Anna always cooks up some nice meals with burgers on Friday and ribs on Saturday and Randy was kind enough to share his Johnnie Walker Black with me.

For Father’s Day weekend, it started off with “donuts with dad” at the school with the girls and for the 2nd year in a row, Uncle Frank was in attendance and enjoyed breakfast with us.  I took the girls to the zoo on Saturday morning since Deb was working.  The girls did well and enjoyed seeing their first dolphin show.  I also went to a patio party at the Wahman’s house that weekend on Saturday evening.  On Father’s day, I enjoyed going for a run in the morning along with my customary 6 pack of beer that is given to me from Deb and the girls.

We stopped doing swim lessons for the summer since have a few different options when it comes to swimming in the summer.  We decided to try an 8 week gymnastics class for both girls and that started off a little rocky but got much better during the 3rd session.  We will probably start swim lessons again in the fall sometime.

Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah’s personality continues to come out on a daily basis in very many ways.  In typical toddler fashion, she will be dancing and laughing one moment and we will be enjoying everything she is doing.  The next moment, if we decide that she doesn’t get the exact hair clip she wants or doesn’t like the socks we put on her, she will throw a tantrum.

Allison’s Things of the Month
Allison has started going on field trips with her school.  They all get on the school bus and spend a few hours doing something like the zoo, the children’s museum, bowling or a park.  She is also doing swim lessons through the school, which is another reason we decided to take a break.

A few more items from this month
  • We had Brad and Jenn Lyons over for a cookout in late June.  They recently moved to Chicago and we wanted to give them a reason to stop by and meet the girls.  The Andersons and Foulkes also came over to enjoy some time with them.
  • We went over to our neighbor’s house for some pizza in place of going to our church’s festival since the weather was so rainy.  We had fun and even had a dance party with the kids on their patio!
  • I went over to Brian Naab’s house to have some beers with Gareth, Brian and John.  It was great to catch up with them and see how they are doing.
  • We have continued to make it to the pool a few times.  The girls get real excited about it, but the rainy weather has lessened the number of times we can make it!
  • Deb took the girls to BRICS for ice cream and met up with Beth.  The girls loved their ice cream and had a blast.
