This month has seemed to fly by, but when I think back to when we put up the Christmas tree in early December, it seems like forever ago. Maybe time hasn’t flown by as much as I thought it did!
As of the end of December, Deb is 23 weeks along with the pregnancy and things are going along smoothly. We had a very exciting and successful appointment in early December. We had our ultrasound at that appointment and after showing us what we were looking at, everything looked to be developing and growing as it should be! We stuck to our initial feelings and didn’t find out the sex of the baby, so we will be surprised as will everyone else! Overall, Deb has been doing well and is starting to show a little more each week. Over Christmas break, we registered at Baby R Us (with the help of Julia!) and also ordered our crib, dresser and glider. Over the next few months, we will post a few pictures of the nursery (assuming I can figure out how to put everything together!). We have started to realize that we will become parents in 4 short months. As this can make anyone a little nervous to be first time parents, we couldn’t be more excited for the spring arrival! The weekend before Christmas, Randy, Anna and Julie came to visit us in Indy to celebrate the holidays. On Saturday, the girls went to get their nails done while Randy and I sat around and watched some sports on TV. We opening gifts on Saturday evening and Deb and I received a DSLR Nikon Camera from Randy and Anna. I received some ski pants and a new Camelbak, while Deb received a digital picture frame. We received a WVU snowman that had “The Carrolls” painted onto it. On Sunday morning, Anna and Deb worked on a batch of Chex Mix. We all watched the first half of the Colts game before the Cyphers headed back to WV. We stayed in Indy for Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve, we attended 4:30 mass with everyone (Carrolls, Wahmans and Vandervaarts). We then made some pizza at Mom and Dad’s house, played some cards and watched some home videos. Those are always fun to watch, even though we know some of the best parts, they always make us laugh. On Christmas, Deb and I got up, enjoyed some coffee and opened some remaining gifts from Deb’s parents and our gifts to each other. We headed over to my parent’s house and enjoyed breakfast, opening of gifts and a nice mid-afternoon meal. The Wahmans and Mark showed up around 1PM and we did our usual tradition of shooting free throws. With the help of a flat basketball, we shot 17-22!
For New Year’s Eve, we went for the 3rd time to Average Joe’s (bar in Broad Ripple) for a fundraiser for Make a Wish. We went with the Ferrands, the Steffeys and Lawton. It was a good time, but the way I felt the next day had me wishing we had just paid for each drink individually, since I may not have ordered up as many!
A few more items from this month:
• We enjoyed some dinners with Watkins and Foulkes over the Christmas break as we hadn’t seen them, or the kids, in awhile.
• We have begun the painful task of car-shopping. We are leaning toward getting a Chevy Traverse, as it is a nice size SUV that we can hopefully grow into.
• For the 5th year, we sponsored a 3 person family through the United Christmas Service. We received an uncle and his 2 nieces and enjoyed shopping for them, as we never seem to know what kids want!
