The months in preparation for the baby seem to be flying by! We are now into our 3rd trimester and we really don’t know where some of the time has gone. During this month, Deb has really started to show a lot more and people are walking up to her and saying, “You’re finally starting to look pregnant.” She pleasantly responds with, “Good, because apparently I just looked like I ate too many cookies up to this point!” During this month, we picked up our furniture and have put together the crib. The dresser was already completed and our glider had a few issues with the parts so we had to re-order it. We have moved the office furniture down into our extra room in the basement and have started arranging the nursery. We are trying to do a little each weekend, and that plan has worked up to this point. We have another appointment in early February, and then we start having more frequent appointments. We also have a few classes scheduled at our hospital in February/March. For my 32nd birthday, we went out to a new restaurant here in Broad Ripple called Three Wise Men Brewery. We enjoyed some pizza and beer until the late hours (if you consider 1AM late, which I do since I am 32 now). The Bassetts, Lawton, Ferrand and the Steffeys were in attendance. The Depps stopped by for a quick visit in mid-January as they passed through on the way back to Cincinnati. Jason is a big Green Bay Packer fan and we watched the playoff game with them, which they won and are now heading to the Superbowl. We had a great time catching up and watching the game.
A few more items from this month:
• Brad came to town for a visit and Jeremy and I met him for lunch downtown. In classic Brad fashion, he was able to motivate all of us to stick around for one more “halfer” beer before heading home. It was good to get a chance to see him.
• Speaking of Jeremy, we enjoyed a dinner over at their place later in the month where we got a chance to see their new house and hang out with his family. The Watkins were also in attendance which allowed for Deb to play a game with their kids, where she tells them there is a baby inside her belly and then the girls try to lift Deb's shirt to see the baby. Seeing their reaction is pretty funny.
• Every January I continue to play in the CLIG. What is the CLIG? It is the “Can’t Let it Go League.” This is a phrase that was termed by Jeremy who made fun of how serious I take an alumni basketball league at my high school. I can’t say it is a bad description, but it has caught on and some people in the league use it and some wives complain about it when they get together. You can tell when it gets near, cause if I am at the gym/church/grocery/anywhere you can bet there is a good chance I may strike up a conversation with someone about the league. You would think our team was good, but we usually go 2-6 or even worse. It is good to see all my high school friends this time of year.
• As I write this, we are in the middle of a pretty big ice storm here in Indianapolis. It was bad enough to cancel work today and I am going to bet I won’t be heading to the office tomorrow. Deb has already been told her office is closed tomorrow, for the first time in 10 years!
