As with every April, we celebrated the girl’s birthday’s and enjoyed having guests visiting from out of town. Sarah celebrated having her first communion with her class at school and we have had our first complete month of softball and I will be the first to say we underestimated the time commitment of the sport.
The last weekend of the month, we celebrated Sarah’s first communion. She was very excited for the day and to be able to completely participate in mass. We were limited in numbers on who could attend the ceremony, but everyone was able to view the ceremony once it was uploaded to YouTube and it was watched during the party afterwards. Frank, Jan, Chris, Grandma, Nana, Grandaddy, Beth, Matt, Molly & Erin were able to come to the party afterwards and those guests made Sarah feel very special. Nana did a great job making the dress and Debbie worked with Sarah to make her veil. With every adult fully vaccinated, we all were able to hang out like we enjoyed and everyone enjoyed some laughs and drinks while catching up for the first time in a long time.
That week, my mom came to town early that week to see family and friends. She was able to make it to one of Allison’s softball games and planned on going to one of Sarah’s but it was rained out so Mom, Sarah and I just went out to dinner. Randy and Anna arrived on Friday that week and stayed through Monday to catch up with all of us and also got to see one of Allison’s track meets.
We celebrated Easter this year with family and friends. We went to church early on Easter and had brunch with the Dodson’s at our house. Allison did a great job playing with Erin and Sarah and Molly enjoyed coloring. Later that evening, Deb and I went over to the Bassett’s for an Easter dinner with Lawton and the Steffey’s. We always enjoy catching up with our friends who we don’t get a chance to see as much as we wish we could.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah enjoyed her birthday with taking cookies to school for her friends. We went out to Blind Owl for dinner and enjoyed some cake from Taylor’s bakery. Sarah enjoyed all of her gifts and didn’t want us to take down the balloons on her chair at the dining room table until the day before Allison’s birthday. Sarah has enjoyed being on a softball team with all of her friends. They have 5 parents coaching the team and each parent loves softball or baseball, so everyone is having a great time. She loves getting on base and has a smile every time she gets a chance to run over home plate.
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison enjoyed her birthday with her friend Lilah. They want to their IBA basketball lessons (both girls love basketball and wanted some additional coaching) and then spent the evening eating pizza, eating cake and hanging out at Sarah’s softball game. They played with their friends Reese and Brooklyn at the fields. Allison is also enjoying track and is doing very well with the softball and kickball throwing events and the 100m dash. I’m not sure where her speed comes from, but I’m sure it is more than likely Deb as “quick” is nothing I’ve ever been called. Allison is having fun playing softball with a few of her good friends from school. She has pitched once and has a great arm. She has a good awareness of the field and has a good swing. Her league is pitched by other girls, so it can be difficult to identify strikes as each pitch could be anywhere, but she is having fun and learning more each game. Her coach is a dad I coached basketball with and he is very well organized.
A few more items from this month:
- We went to a happy hour at the Biberstine’s and enjoyed seeing so many families form school and the neighborhood.
- I’m really enjoyed work right now and things are going well. I participated in my second board meeting and it went really well. I had a nice time at dinner with the entire board of directors the night before and breakfast with the finance committee chairman before the meeting.
