2021
May had all the usual stuff with softball season and track, along with Mother’s Day and Deb and I’s 15thwedding anniversary. However, to keep us on our toes and add one more thing to our life, we decided to get a dog and that has been something we all have been busy with as we get used to having her around.
Her name is Timber and she is a mini-golden doodle. We named her Timber after the ski resort that Deb’s family enjoyed for many years and now our girls are learning how to ski there also. Timber had been doing a great job in her crate. Since we had 2 weeks of school remaining when we brought her home, we had a lot of help from neighbors (especially Elaine) taking her out and feeding her while we were at work. She sleeps from about 9PM until 7AM most nights without any issues and only has the occasional accident in the house. Our next step is to get her trained on the invisible fence so we can go outside without a leash. We have had to juggle our schedule to make sure one of us get home every 2-3 hours to let her out which has been hectic with the softball schedule. Allison had some friends over to meet Timber after school, and they used the opportunity to turn that into a sleepover. Overall, we love our new dog and enjoy the joy she has brought to us.
Deb and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary this month and enjoyed a 4-day trip to St. Pete beach in Florida. We flew out on Wednesday evening and checked into our hotel. We were excited as they had live music most nights which we could listen to off our balcony. We worked out most mornings and then were at the beach or pool for the remainder of the day. We enjoyed some great seafood dinners and sitting our balcony listening to music and watching the sun go down. We appreciated Randy and Anna coming to town to watch the girls and shuffle them around to softball and school.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah improved a lot during her softball season and started to consistently get on base most of the time she was up to bat. She had her routine down which was to tap each corner of the plate before every at-bat. She did well in the field and the only thing she didn’t like was wearing the softball pants because it was always “too hot.”
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison also improved a lot in her softball season and even has pitched a few innings. She is a good fielder and does pretty well at the plate. In the city track meet, she won the championship for softball throw by throwing it 91 feet and her 4th grade girl team got 2nd place in the overall tournament. There was an end of the year sports banquet at school and she received several trophies, medals and ribbons for a successful year. Finally, Allison went to an Indiana Fever game with several of her friends. They enjoyed screaming, having fun and getting on the Jumbotron.
A few more items from this month:
- Mother’s Day this year was rainy and a little chilly, so we kept it pretty low-key. Sarah got up and made breakfast in bed for Deb.
- I went over to Beth’s house twice this month to play some euchre. Once with Frank, Jan, Mark and Chris and the second time was with Chelsea, Henry & Mark. Always a good time to hang out and see everyone.
- I went golfing for the first time in about 4 years. A few dads from school decided to take off a Friday afternoon and we created 2 4-man teams and enjoy a scramble. We had a good time and the evening took us to Broad Ripple for dinner and more beers at OPT’s & Union Jacks.
- Deb had a 1-day trip to Wisconsin for work to check out some new equipment for their new facility. She enjoyed having lunch with the Rago’s and having some Spotted Cow beer.
- We got new carpet upstairs which is something we have wanted to do for a long time. We also had some work done on our hallway to level it out as the subfloor had some issues.
- We got some new furniture for our sunroom which Deb has wanted to get for several years. Our hope is to hang a TV in there so we can enjoy some football this fall with the windows open.
- Deb went up to the Watkins house to enjoy an evening with Erin & Julia.
- We enjoyed watching the Indy 500 race at the Sipes house while the kids all played together.
- We celebrated Memorial Day at the Sniadecki’s house with a cookout with some neighbors. It was a nice way to end the weekend.
