December 2021

I started doing these memoirs in 2005 and the blog was started in 2008.  Hard to think where all of that time has gone, but as we ended 2021, we had a great time celebrating the holidays with family and friends.  We had a lot going on this month between kid’s sports and family visiting from out of town.

Our Christmas celebration started on the 23rd when Randy and Anna arrived from WV.  We went to mass on the 24th and Sarah sang in the choir.  We enjoyed a relaxing Christmas day and the girls enjoyed playing with all of their new presents (Chromebooks and cameras were the biggest hit).  The Shafers flew in on the 26th and the kids did well playing together. Julie and I went to OrangeTheory on the 27th & 28thwith Tom & Tracy and enjoyed some mimosas after each workout.  Monday, Deb and Julie took the girls to make some bath bombs.  The next day, we all went to see Sing 2 at the theater.  On the 29th, the Shafers and Cyphers left and we had a fun evening at the Dodson’s hanging out with Mark, Mom and the Vandervaarts. The following day we watched the Purdue bowl game at our house and enjoyed some appetizers with the same crew along with Chris.  We had some good laughs that evening as some of us decided we would help Chris out on some of the dating apps.  We ended the week by celebrating NYE at the Biberstines house with the Sniadeckis.  Everyone was in bed by 11:15 except for Allison who decided she wanted tostay up until midnight!

I got a chance to volunteer with Allison’s class as they participated in Biztown with Junior Achievement.  I got a chance to interview her classmates for the jobs they wanted and then also go on the field trip.  It was pretty impressive to see all of the work the teachers and kids put into it.  I helped out the utility company and Allison was CEO of a 3d printing company.  It looked like all of the kids had a great time and hopefully they learned a little bit about why their parents are always so “busy.”

Sarah’s Things of the Month

Sarah had her LIH league come to an end and they all had fun and got better each game.  She was able to go to CYO night and had fun watching the high school girls play.   She transitioned to playing at Castleton Christian Church and has started practicing getting ready for games in January.  Her brownie troop got to be in the Broad Ripple Parade of Lights and helped the police catch the grinch.  She also went to a birthday party and watched Clifford the Big Red Dog with the girls in her class.

Allison’s Things of the Month

Allison has continued her basketball practices with her Jr. Trojans basketball team with games starting in January.  She has also started volleyball practices and has had fun learning to overhand serve.  She got to go to a surprise sleepover birthday party and stayed up way too late but had a great time.

A few more items from this month:

  • We continued our tradition of going to see Santa at Sullivan’s with the Sniadeckis. .
  • One of Allison’s friend’s mom took them to see the lights at the fairgrounds.  Deb took Sarah and 2 of her friends to see those lights later in the month.
  • Frank, Jan and Chelsea were in town and we all met up at the Dodson’s house.  Since Chelsea is in St. Louis and the Frank and Jan are traveling, we don’t get to see them very often so it was a great opportunity to catch up.
  • We went to the Yuletide celebration at the symphony downtown.  The girls enjoyed dressing nicely and going to a show.  They also enjoyed the cookies and hot chocolate.
  • Deb has been busy at work as her company has rebranded from Methodist Sports Medicine to Forte.  They are opening a new facility and she has been busy helping get the physical therapy department setup efficiently as equipment shows up.
  • Over the last several months, I’ve been working on an acquisition which we closed in December.  It is located a little west of Milwaukee and should be a great opportunity for my company.
