We had a lot of volleyball and basketball on the calendar in February. Allison has gotten a chance to play with some better players and competition as part of the Jr. Trojans basketball program. They have lost most of their games and while that has been challenging to her as she is used to winning and playing well, we are hoping that helps her realize how much more she has to practice to get better as she gets older in any sport she enjoys. Sarah has continued to show a lot of improvement as she is playing at Castleton Christian in a co-ed basketball league. She is very knowledgeable about the game and is really good at help side defense and forcing several jump ball situations per game. Allison has learned a lot in her second season of volleyball and has developed a consistent overhand serve which she has used during some of the games.
We had a pretty big snow storm in early February and it came on a Thursday so the girls enjoyed a 4-day weekend. We had never taken the girls sledding before, so on Friday I took them to Fort Harrison and we enjoyed sledding down the big hill with several friends from school. Since I hadn’t been sledding in probably 30 years, I decided to also head down the hill a few times.
Deb tested positive for COVID so we cancelled our trip to Davis to go skiing. For her, it seemed to be a normal cold that just lasted a little longer. On President’s Day, the girls and I went ax throwing with Jeremy and his daughters and everyone had a good time. After we were done, the girls played some ping pong while the dads enjoyed a few beers.
My mom came for a visit and was able to enjoy a volleyball game for Allison and see a basketball game for Sarah. We went out to eat at Sahm’s after the volleyball game. We also were able to see her at Erin’s birthday party where the girls enjoyed playing with their cousins.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah went to a birthday party at Top Golf and had fun with her class. She had fun learning about golf and hitting a few balls. Tracy came over and she and Sarah cooked a Valentine’s Day cake.
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison has continued to be a server at mass and seems to really enjoy it. She also participated in softball evaluations and is looking forward to a fun season.
A few more items from this month:
- The girls are flower girls in a wedding in April (Jackie & Adam). Deb took them with Jackie to look at dresses and get fitted. They enjoyed the attention and are looking forward to the wedding.
- Deb and I went to a fundraiser for the church called the “Kings Gala.” It was at the Northside Social and since it had been 4 years since the last one due to COVID, it was awesome to see so many people together having a great time.
- Debbie has been very busy at work as their new office opens up in March. She has been spending a majority of her time at the new clinic and is looking forward to starting the transition.
- Debbie has also been training for a 10k in April and has been doing great preparing for that even though the weather has been cold during some of her runs on the weekend.
