We enjoyed a visit from Debbie’s Uncle Chuck and Aunt Heather during May. They arrived on Thursday the 18th and we enjoyed a few beers and spent the evening watching softball. The next day, Chuck changed every light fixture on our 2nd floor and did some other small items around the house for us. We went to another softball game on Saturday and most of our crew went to church that evening. Allison had to serve in the mass at 8AM on Sunday, so I went along. Chuck & Heather are big NASCAR fans, so we all went to the track for the 2nd day of qualifying. They were impressed with the size of the track and how fast the cars were going. We enjoyed their visit and they left on Monday morning.
We enjoyed a quiet Mother’s Day this year. Sarah and I made mom breakfast in bed and then Deb and I went to Orangetheory. After getting back, we did a lot of weeding and planting of flowers. The girls made us grilled cheese for lunch and we grilled out for dinner.
School ended the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and the kids were very excited, as expected. The school day ended with party at Broad Ripple Park and the weekend was filled with going to the pool and a race party at the Sipes. One of our neighbors invited me to the race this year and we had a great time. We left for the track around 7:30 and got back home around dinner time. Our seats were in the shade and we were directly across from pit lane, so we got to see plenty of action.
My mom came in town for a visit during the last week of school. She went to one of Allison’s softball games on evening and we went out to dinner the following evening. We went to church on Saturday and then hung out at Beth’s house later that night.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah enjoyed going ziplining with her girl scout troop in early May as a reward for their cookie sales. She did a great job as part of her Famous Hoosier presentation, where she was Teri Moren (college basketball coach). Sarah has been enjoying her softball team and having fun playing mostly 1stand 3rd base and leading off the batting lineup in most games.
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison’s track season came to an end and she placed 2nd in the softball throw. Her medley team relay did well and she did a good job in the long jump. Her softball season has been good as she has been playing some outfield and 1st base along with hitting the ball well.
A few more items from this month:
- Beth and I got together for some beers at her house in early May. With spring break and the end of the school year, we had gotten off our routine and hope to get back on track.
- Jeremy and I met up for some beers at BW3s after working out at Orangetheory.
- Deb and I went to a fundraising party for the 6th grade which had a race theme and was at the school gym.
- The girls enjoyed one of their favorite days of the year which is field day. Sarah’s team won the overall day and was given the “Golden Tiger.”
- We quietly celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary by having drinks with Chuck & Heather in our sunroom.
- We went to Molly’s birthday party after getting home from the track. She was very excited and was probably having her best day with multiple celebrations in one day.
- We went to the annual sports banquet at CKS. Afterwards, I stuck around to have some beers with some of the coaches.
