We have enjoyed some quieter weekends as the only activities going on have been basketball practices for both girls. We have filled in some of that time by going to some Chatard girls’ basketball games along with watching some of the Christ the King boys basketball on the weekends.
The second week of Christmas break, Deb stayed home with the girls and we did a few fun things. They went bowling with the Verspelts and then decided to play laser tag. I heard the moms were pretty good and dominated the kids. Also, during that week, we took the girls to a Pacers game with several families from school. While the seats weren’t great, the kids enjoyed seeing friends at the game.
I celebrated my 45th birthday this month by going to the gym in the morning, coming home to a scavenger hunt completed by Sarah to find my presents in the house, followed by watching football in the afternoon. I received new Airpods, a new basketball and a new shirt. Beth stopped by with Molly and Erin to hand-deliver some handmade cards, which are hanging in my office at work. Finally, we had some cake from Taylors bakery.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
Sarah’s basketball practices have continued this month. I’ve enjoyed coaching her and her friends and we are looking forward to some games being played in February.
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison has been enjoyed playing basketball this month and getting to know some of the 8th graders on her team. Her season will also start in February.
A few more items from this month:
- We participated in the annual Basement Olympics put on by the Steffeys. Along with the games, there is also a chili contest. I helped my team with Wii bowling and Deb played Connect 4.
- We had dinner with Amy & Tony Bultinck at Some Guys Pizza to celebrate my birthday.
- One Saturday, went out with the Sechrists after church and they stopped by our house for some beers and watched NFL football.
- Debbie went to Encounter Mary with several moms from church early in the month. That evening, the girls and I went out to dinner Mike Sniadecki and his kids and we watched some football afterwards at our house.
- We ordered some new furniture for our family room. We aren’t sure exactly when it will arrive, but it will be an upgrade from our 20-year-old couches.
- Allison and I volunteered at the school open house this month. Allison was a student tour guide and I simply tagged along a few tours to answer any parent questions the students didn’t know how to respond.
- Phil Verspelt and I went to a Pacers vs. Nuggets game. The Pacers lost but the seats were really good and close to the action.
