February has been full of basketball as both girls started and nearly finished their seasons all in one month. Sarah’s team struggled the entire season if you simply looked at the scoreboard, but they didn’t give up and worked hard throughout the entire season. Sarah would find herself playing out of position as a point guard at some points of the game, but continued to use the opportunity to learn and have fun with her friends. Her season ended in late February in a first round loss in the tournament. Allison’s team has fared better with a 4-3 record. She has continued to enjoy interacting with the 8th grade girls at practice and during the games. Allison’s tournament starts in a few days and will end in March.
Debbie took a trip to Scottsdale for work in late February. When the conference wasn’t going on, she enjoyed a few hikes, walks outside and drinks by the pool. While she was gone, my mom came to visit and stayed with us for a couple of days. We went to basketball games for both girls and out to dinner at Binkley’s one evening. Later that weekend, we attended a birthday party for Erin Dodson and the girls had fun inventing a game where Erin was in charge of the show. The following day the Cyphers showed up for their doctor appointments at Deb’s clinic and to meet with a realtor to see some houses in Indy.
The girls and I took a day trip to Columbus, Ohio to see Claire play some volleyball games for her club team. We had a fun afternoon watching her play, along with having lunch with her and Laura. The Dodsons came also, so we all got a chance to sit together and watch her play.
Sarah’s Things of the Month
As Sarah’s basketball season ended, she quickly has gone straight into softball. She has evaluations during the last weekend in February and ended up being paired up with one of her favorite coaches, so she is excited for her upcoming season.
Allison’s Thing of the Month
Allison will be having a lighter softball schedule as she is playing for the school but not in a league this spring. She decided she wanted to give club basketball a try so we have her signed up and that starts in March and goes into the summer.
A few more items from this month:
- We went as a family to one of Bishop Chatard’s girls basketball sectional games, which they won pretty easily.
- Deb and I went to the CKS Kings Gala, which is a fundraiser for the parish held ever other year. It was a great night and a fun time with everyone.
